Rough Cut
Why is a rough cut important to consider?
The rough cut implies the ending of my group’s task and the rough cut is
the final way to impress our target audience with our music video. This is done
by making final improvement. These improvements are made by gathering research
of people who watched the rough cut. This is done by leaving comment on the
site You Tube. From this the general public decide what there thought were.
These can be improvement, likes, dislikes, everything the public comment is
important as it give my group another opinion which could suggest something my
group had not thought of, for example have some of the scenes could be
brighter. The information gathered will be used to improve our music video to
be more successful in our finished music video. This intern should make our
music video more successful. This highlights the importance of the rough cut as
it will inevitable make our video more successful to our target audience.
Why is it important to consider audience feedback?
Considering the audience feedback it vital to my group as this can effect
can directly impact the success or failure of any product. Audience feedback is important
to consider because it allowed my group to come to terms with the strengths and
weaknesses of our own music video. This is hard to do by members of my group. As
we have high opinions of our own work and have watched it so many times, and
spent a number of hours editing the music video on Final Cut Pro. Each comment
written by the audience was discussed by my group; this would potentially
improve on what we had created already. It is very important to act on the audience
feedback as by not doing this could actively affect the success of what we have
created. My group have more chance of success taking the feedback into account
which is why this is so important.
How did you receive your feedback? YouTube, Interviews?
After posting my groups rough cut on you tube we received large amounts
of helpful feedback from our target audience. Many positive and some
constructive criticism. Although it’s nice to hear that the music video was “Amazing”
this will not help my group to improve what we have created. There were many
places my group could show our rough cut however none with a wider audience
than you tube. YouTube getting over one billion view a month with the perfect
place to unreal my groups rough cut. My group felt that the large amounts of
views would give us the highest possible comments which would give my group the
best chance of improving our music video. My group felt YouTube should not be
the only avenue we took also using Face book to give my group feedback which
would also give us comments.
Comments that we received included:
- "The video captured all the different aspects that you would expect to see in a dance video such as the flashbacks and fast paced editing"
- "Could have been improved by adding scenes from a club etc to emphasise the dance element further"
- "The narrative was easy to follow and I could sympathise with the graveyard scenes"
- "A range of different transitions could have been used to make it more complex and professonal"
How will the feedback assist you with finalising your final music video?
Without receiving feedback regarding our music video, as a group we
would not know whether we had successful met our target objective to create a
music video in our chosen deep house genre. Through receiving a combination of positive,
negative and constructive criticism feedback relating to our rough cut. It allowed
my group to identify micro elements which adjustment would lead to an increase
in our target audience satisfaction and overall success of the narrative
production.
This post demonstrates a basic understanding of why a rough cut is important. You have made a start in explaining what a rough cut is, but you have not reflected on the comments that you received. You also need to explain what changes you will make to your video and why?
