evaluation 3

My audience feedback allowed me to learn a number of feature which allowed me to improve my final product for my music video. It is extremely  important to evaluate your work. By doing so it allows you to understand thing which do not work and how thing can be improved. This allowed me to understand what I did well and what was not as good.

You tube was used to showcase my rough cut of my music video and my final finished music video. This is because it is a globally used site which has millions of users. This meant that my music video would be seen by a large audience. This would allow me to gather a larger and more diverse range of comments. I new It was important to use a larger audience from my foundation production, where a smaller group was used this didn’t give me a large and more diverse range of feed back but having a larger audience . I new that by having a larger audience to view my music video it would increase the amount of feed back I would get which would determine the amount I could improve my music video.

Comments that we received included:

·                 "The video captured all the different aspects that you would expect to see in a dance video such as the flashbacks and fast paced editing"
·                "Could have been improved by adding scenes from a club etc to emphasise the dance element further"
·                "The narrative was easy to follow and I could sympathise with the graveyard scenes"
·                "A range of different transitions could have been used to make it more complex and professional"

Being a media producer the feed back was both good and bad. This strived me to improve the bad parts which my target audience didn’t seem to like, however I new by making changes I could improve  the music video making it more successful. This was done by adding effects to create links with the audience. This can be seen where I added more dance scenes  Although I know it is good having positive feedback I preferred negative as these were the features that I could improve to make my music video better.

The second comment "Could have been improved by adding scenes from a club etc to emphasise the dance element further" was an aspect that we felt as a group needed to be added. Myself and my group achieved this by filming at a friends party to capture some of the flashing lights to give the impression of a club scene. This we felt made the music video appear more profession and adhered further to the dance genre conventions.

Another comment that we took forward was "A range of different transitions could have been used to make it more complex and professional". Our rough cut mainly only included straight cuts with some fade transitions. We decided to include a wider range of transitions to give the video a more professional finish without it looking too over loaded with transitions which may have the adverse effect. We also took this comment further by including some effects over certain pieces of footage to show contrast between the scenes - and again to make it appear more professional. For example we applied a black and white effect over the scenes of the car crash to show the difference between the flashbacks and crash. This we felt would make the narrative easier to understand for the audience as it would highlight the difference between the positive and negative parts of the relationship that we displayed.

The feedback that we received would be vital if we were working within the music industry. It would challenge our knowledge on the conventions of a music video as well as those belonging to the dance genre and whether we were able to break them successfully. It would make sure that we had considered our target audience sufficiently throughout the entirety of the video as well as highlight whether our video was of a high enough quality to stand up alongside professionally produced music videos. It would also what our chosen target audience liked and disliked. This would give me as part of the music industry the knowledge of what the target audience want to see. This would allow me to design an artist around what the audience want. It would also emphasise the strengths that we hold as producers and the aspects that we would need to improve upon. As a result of the feedback that we received it would allow us to see whether our music video as well as us as individuals have the skills and qualities to be successful within the music industry.

Evaluation 1

My brief within Media Studies was to create a music video on an artist of my choice, alongside two ancillary products. To be successful my group would have to follow the genre conventions and entertain the target audience. The digipak and magazine advert came under the ancillary post which intern would promote the artist boosting their success. The success of creating a continual flow was down to three very vital ancillary products, which would connect to each other. After long discussion, my group felt that we would both follow and break genre convention. This would have many contrasting effects. For example by following all genre convention my group would risk our music video being boring and have many similarities to other videos in the charts. Contrastingly by breaking all conventions you would have a music video which does not appeal to the target audience. This highlighted that for my group to be successful we would have to subvert the genre to avoid being similar to similar music videos in the same deep house genre. This will make my group’s music video diverse and entertaing as it different from others. However not to break all convention so the music video will still appeal to the target audience. This will create a successful music video as it meet the needs and want of the target advice by meeting the conventions however is more entertaining as it is something different and contrast to other music video of the genre they may have seen.
To truly understand what the target audience wanted from a music video my group carried out both primary and secondary research. This would give my group a greater understanding of what convention to conform to and which to break. Through the use of interview and questionnaires of our target audience 15-25. In addition, my group asked the general public music genre related question to give my group a greater understanding. My group then transformed the data into useful information. The information enables us to materialise them in to easy understandable: pie charts, bar charts, and vox pox videos. The vox pops illustrated our target audience opinion on our chosen (deep house) genre. By me and member of the group interviewing individuals allowed my group to gather relevant primary information. Which intern would give my group a greater understanding of the genre which would allow us to evoke our greater understanding to our target audience making a successful music video? Collaborating all the new information, the group and I came to realisation of roughly who our target audience was, meaning that we were able to plan all our ancillary products around what they wanted and had requested. This was all taken into consideration to make our music video as successful as we possibly could.

My group consists of 4 members; myself Luke Thompson, Will Stacey, Max Heath and Rhiannon Andrews-west. This formed a very creative group which included many opinions and ideas. We felt by forming a group we could push each other to the best of our abilities. As well as putting the groups many creative ideas to create a very successful music video. In my opinion each member of the group had an aspect which the excelled at. Therefore combined as a group we could excel as each group member brought something they was good at and other member could not do. , we all pushed each other to better the outcome by sharing opinions and inputting at all stages of development. In the production of the music video each member had something which they excelled at which made it easy to allocate roles. As member’s skill was clearly seen each member agreed to the roles. The roles included camera man which max happily agreed as he had previously taken this role in his thriller production. As a group we felt this role was correct as he had previously used it. Also max would know what worked well and what didn’t. For example zooming when filming had a negative effect. This would prevent us from re-filming saving my group time. Will would be our artist this is as he felt performing was his natural role and something he felt he would excel at. Rhiannon would also in our performed in the narrative production this was again as she felt confident in front of the camera. This was as she filmed in her previous media production. This helped our group as she would know how to react around the camera. My role in the group was directing and input in to filming. I felt this was the correct role for me as I had previously done it in my past production and I felt I would be creative enough to come up with idea for shots and positioning when shots did not look right. As a group we collectively added input in to editing on final cut pro and Photoshop as we felt collectively as a group we could be more creative in coming up with final pieces.

From my experience from last year’s AS media group task; creating as opening thriller sequence. Each member excelled at their role making the group enjoyable to work with. In addition I felt I worked well to changes that I said I would make last year with improved our final piece. My role in the production has taught me how to focus on specific areas, and look more into the micro elements, which as an outcome created a more successful music video. Contrasting to last year my group had such good time management we were able to test new shots and experiment in many ways.  This improved our final piece. It was clear to see that my group formed a will organised production. This was seen through the use of planning, which had many ideas which were all given thought and consideration which avoided arguments and brought the group closer illustrating the success. The skills that I had already gained at AS level. I had previously learned how to use basic tools such as importing the camera footage and using the blade tool to cut different sections to produce a timeline. It also made me more experienced at using the skills that I had previously acquired making me able to work more efficiently and focus on more advanced tools. My A2 experience has allowed me to take this further by teaching myself how to use different effects and transitions as well as slow and quicken different scenes

In my opinion, I feel that as a group we have created a successful music video on the song 'The Sun Don’t Shine' by Klangkrussel alongside strong ancillary increased the success. Due to the lacking time my group was given it was hard to make everything perfect. The lacking time highlighted elements of the final production which I would like to improve on However as a hole I felt my group’s music video was a success.

There is no better way of promoting an artist than through a music video. This is why the success of a music video is vital. Music videos consist of a short narrative/representation of an artist depending on the genre in which they feature in order for an artist to attract a specific target audience, which are often carried out purely for artistic and promotional purposes. For an audience, it allows them to buy into their lifestyle and make connections in forms of for example emotions, clothing, and style. The video creates a greater understanding for an audience on what the song is about and the underlying emotions and meanings the song holds. A music video can be categorised in 3 ways being performance, narrative and concept.

Each genre has their respective conventions, however to be rebel against the mainstream and come across different to the target audience they subvert the codes and conventions. This will intern allow them to stand out from similar artists in the same genre. Music videos date back much further than the present day they came into prominence in the 1980’s when MTV based their format around them. Some music videos may be without a set concept e.g. only being a filmed version of the songs live performance. As there are many new genres in the present day filming a live concert and breaking all conventions of the genre would be unappealing to the audience, this is why it was vital to research my chosen deep house genre.

  • A Market Tool to promote artist/song - A music video is primarily used to promote the sale of music recordings of the artist that has produced the song. They can also be used to promote other companies. An example of this is in ‘Beauty And The Beat’ by Justin Bieber where they promote the new gaming product ‘Just dance 4’ by showing the logo within the video.
  • Short Narrative or representation of artist - Many music videos use a short narrative to tell a story within the clip. An example of this is in ‘Heart Attack’ by Trey Songs where his video shows Kelly Rowland (the love interest) and himself falling in love as well as showing their ups and downs. This attracts the audience, as they want to follow the storyline and is also often used to compliment the words of the song and make it easier for the audience to understand.
  • Attract a particular type of audience - Videos are used to attract the target market that the song and genre is aimed at. An example of this is ‘The Promise’ by Girls Aloud where they use glamorous dresses and a choreographed routine that would attract teenage girl to watch the video and listen to the music.
  • Buy into the artists lifestyle - The artist’s lifestyle is often portrayed in a music video so that the audience can put themselves into the world of the artist and understand the life that they live. ‘Got 2 Luv u’ by Sean Paul is a good example of this as they show the artist in a club with alcohol and lots of girls. This gives the impression that this is a regular occasion for him and gives the audience an insight into his lifestyle
  • Show the different generic conventions of a genre/music video - The generic conventions of a music video are shown throughout each individual video. This alters depending on the genre of the song as well as the artist and directors personal ideas.
  • Audience to remember the video - An audience will often remember a song by the video that is played alongside it; especially as the most popular way to listen to music is on TV channels and YouTube where the videos are a main feature. An example of this is ‘Blurred Lines’ by Robin Thicke where the video created controversy and was therefore remembered by a large group of people.
  • Audience to understand more about the song - A music video can tell the story behind the lyrics which allows the audience to see both the hidden and literal meaning. This allows them to understand the song in more depth as well as giving them an insight into any themes prominent within the song.
  • Build a relationship with the artist - The audience is able to understand the artist through the choice of video and the persona that they create throughout it. This allows the audience to understand the personality of the artist through their choice of video and the different images that it shows of them.

I was introduced to klangkurusel when there song reached the top ten in the charts, a pair that feature within the deep house genre. This can be seen from previous songs which also are part of the genre. It was clear to me and my group that we understood what the artist was trying to portray. This was eminently evident from their lyrics which imminently brought creative ideas of what we could create in the music video. A narrative based production would create emotion links between the images and lyrics which will heighten the connection between the music video and the audience therefore becoming more entertaining. After researching into both Ellie Golding “I need your love and arctic monkeys “R U Mine” used narrative music video very successfully. Using a range of feature which would be effective in my own music video. This would include slow paced editing to show tragic events seen in the arctic monkeys “R U Mine”. “I need your love” showed passionate moments throughout from the use of close up and a handheld camera my group would use this to create a passionate relationship and create realism for our target audience of 15 to 25.
I feel that my music video, alongside the 2 other ancillary products being the digipak and magazine advert reflect my chosen music genre, in the way we have followed many of the typical deep house codes and conventions; a few examples being bright lighting, club scenes and fast paced editing. The narrative is very strong. My group and I felt this was important that the audience could relate with what they see. However we chose to subvert conventions to create an effect on the audience. By doing so, we hopefully attract a greater audience; we also hope that the intense narrative will engage the audience keeping them entertained watching. To create realism my group had to include relatable scene and stereotype what couples do. This included romantic walking, cake making and looking at spectacular views. This would make our production more realistic. My also found from artist representation that they steer from being the centre of attention they prefer for their music to be more noticed. This was seen from the artist David guetta. It was clear we could follow this convention by concentrating on the lyrics my group and I felt that this could be done through a narrative production.  The group and I only wanted small components to be diverse, in order to add originality to stand out against genre opponents, overall following as well as challenging indie conventions to produce a successful end product.

Knowing the importance of following the codes and conventions of my chosen deep house genre to entertain our target audience of 15-25. This was evident as i followed these conventions of the deep house genre which stereotypes the need of strobe and bright lighting. This will create the feeling of dance and fun. I achieved following this conventions by having my artist dancing in a club. Portraying and dance and fun nature to the audience. I again followed conventions by not making my artist  the main focus in the production. This would allow them to concentrate on deeper meaning behind the song. This was evident from similar artist David Guetta "the club cant handle us right now". This showed the artist (David Guetta)  in the video however not the main focus being a character in the narrative production. This was suggested by the lack of bright clothing and iconography which allows the artist to stand out from the crowed; making them a star. This allowed the song to portray a deeper meaning of enjoying life. The artist achieved this by drawing focus away from him self so the audience could highlights the deeper connotation of the song. I followed these convention by having my artist in the music video however not the main focus. This would suggest the deeper meaning of love in relationships which i tried to promote through lyrics and visuals . By doing this it allowed us to include Goodwins theory of lyrics connecting with visual. By concentrating on highlighting hidden meaning in lyric through visuals would allow us to successful entertain our chosen target audience. I done this by having the lyrics "the sun don't shine without you" and low key lighting through lowering the percent of lighting  and my artist walking through a grave suggesting the sun know longer shines without his love.

To entertain my target audience i understood the importance of being diverse from similar artist in the same deep house genre. To achieve this i new it was important to subvert codes and conventions of the genre. I done this by adding slow paced editing by lowering the speed percent of Final cut pro X software. This would allow the artist to suggest the feeling of pain and emotion which comes across when the artist is walking through the grave yard. This allows the audience to come to terms with the female characters death. I again broke conventions by not dark dull lighting to suggest death when the female character crashes her car. I done this by adding the black and white effect using final cut pro x. This would allow the audience to link the visual and lyric together to suggest the artist pain "the sun don't shine without you" this would create a larger impact when entertaining the audience.

planning lighting and colour

Planning lighting and colour

Lighting as well as colour are considered vital elements to all media production. This will be very important to my groups music video. Lighting is effective and portrays the mood whilst colour is used to present connotations and denotations which traditionally indicate the artist representation, however in my groups case i will help to show the audience the relationship of the young couple. through the use of both light and colour my group will aim to give the audience an insight into artist is feeling in the narrative production. Colour will effectively be used to suggest hidden meanings and mystery in the narrative of my groups music video.

Light is a vital element to our visuals in my groups music video. This is as through the use of lyric analysis we found that connotes naturalistic light "the sun don't shine". My group will use lighting to cement the connotations given through the songs lyrics.  We have justified connotations behind each light type/source we would use.

Naturalistic light will be used throughout my groups music video as it follow the lyric. This will include sunset shots of both characters over i high angle of the city. In addition to this my group will use naturalistic lighting throughout the grave yard scene to evoke the feeling the sun only shine when the couple are together. This will be seen through establishing shots and long shots. myself and my group feel that the sunrise shot in the graveyard will portray the harsh reality of the relationship. These shots will give the audience an understanding of what is happening in the scene. Naturalistic lighting will be effective for these particular scenes as it will cement the lyrics the artist is saying giving the audience a greater understanding of what is happening in each scene. the naturalistic lighting will also help the audience understand the pain that the male character must be going through. this intern will entertain the audience more.

Contrasting to naturalistic light my group will subvert deep house genre conventions by using dark low key lighting.  This will break the conventions of the deep house genre as the convention state bright lights to create a party atmosphere.  through the use of dark low key lighting used in the crash my group will create an enigma of who has died seen in the graveyard at the start. in addition my group will use unnatural light sources. London skylight on buildings will be used to show a romantic setting. This will illustrate the semantic field of romance which will help my group  achieve a successful narrative production.

the deep house genre conventions included many bright lights to create a party and fun atmosphere. My group will follow these conventions by also adding a variety of different colours throughout the music production. My group aims to connect with our target audience this will be done through a diverse range of colour which the audience can relate to with hidden meanings and connotations. We have chosen to use a red car which the couple will be see throughout the production. This was done to conveys the feeling of love and passion which red highlights, this intern will evoke that the couple are deeply in love a heighten what the male character is feeling when she dies. This will help my group to create emotional links with the audience which will make our music video more entertaining. In addition to the red car we will also use red balloons to firstly show the couple are young which the target audience can relate to as many would have done the same. however the use of the red balloons will also help to show the couples love through a hidden meaning.

All clothing used will support genre characteristics though my groups secondary research my group found that the target group like to be relate able to characters this was seen through the artist David guetta as he wore high street fashion clothing which the audience could buy. my group will follow these conventions by having both characters wearing these types of clothing. this will include a grey suit in the grave yard scene which suggest a dull a sad colour this will help to portray the characters pain when the female character dies. The female character will be seen wearing black which connotes darkness which will help to portray her death to the audience. In addition to this she wont have bright colours which the audience can be attracted to. this is to heighten the fact that she is now dead.

Our lighting and colour choices follow the conventions of the deep house genre. Conventional lighting relates to the use of natural light sources such as the sun we would like to use. We have noticed through conducting research that the deephouse genre focus on both naturalistic lighting and lighting effect for example stobe or lazar this is to create a party atmosphere which the target audience would want to follow. As my group aim to conform to the stereotypical conventions of the deep house genre we will follow these conventions by adding a dance party scene ;in addition to the natural lighting seen in the grave yard scene.  This will portray a fun dancing atmosphere to the target audience making them want to dance.
Decisions regarding light and colour have been discussed between the group to allow us to come up with the most creative ideas which inter wouhelp to cbecause we felt it was important to use symbols effectively to communicate the various hidden meanings of the song (demonstrated in lyric analysis post) We hope that these decisions will force the target audience to have a deeper understanding of the song which will therefore correlate in an increase in people feeling able to connect with the lyrics.
Consequently, this also allows the audience targeted to build a relationship with the artist in addition to the song they are listening to supported by the video which is imperative to the artists success, benefiting them in the long run in the competitive industry which is ever growing. As a group, we also agreed that we would like our video to be visually appealing for audience members so that an element of entertainment is added whilst simultaneously allowing the audience to be stimulated, understand and appreciate the video content.

analysis of two adverts

Through this the target audience may assume that the artist is very successful and popular artist due to the high demand for the artist. Conforming to mainstream ideologies and in turn, found more appealing by the mass audience.
Analyse the following magazine advert. Ensure that your analysis is detailed and that you have included excellent examples to support the points that you have made. Also relate back to the music conventions and the target audience.

david-guetta.jpg

Representation of music artist

The artist representation taken from this particular advert conforms to the conventions of the deep house genre, artist as a result of many contributing attributes. One being the appearance of the artist. Guetta is seen in clothing which the target audience can relate to. This is seen in the casual T-shirt work by the artist who is sold in many high street stores. Through the use of dyers theory the artist is seen as ordinary, which allows the audience to relate with the artist.

The choice of background contributes to the typical deep house artist representation; the use of a summer abroad destination seen by the deck chairs and the palm trees. This connotes a party destination places a place deemed to have parties like many summer festival or holidays, this is highlighted by the bold white statement “the must check out party” illustrating the party theme. It is clear that the artist is passing the theme of fun on the audience. Locations deemed both fun and a place to party. Furthermore, Dyers theory shows the artist as being the star with the headlines “nobody does it guetta” showing the artist is like no other and no other can compare. Illustrating to the audience he is the best which therefore persuades the audience to watch him at his wmc special. The tour destination “Miami wmc special show the artist is seen as a star around the world. Therefore improving the artist representation.

Connotations of the advert

The advert appears to have an evident persuasive motif, connoting the natural world such as the sea, sky, trees. It is very conventional for deep house artists to focus on nature in their visual representations as it portrays them as more down to earth and therefore the target audience will find them more appealing as they feel they are easy to relate to. This representation is also relevant in regards to the other colors used in the advert; green connoting grass, trees etc and yellow also connoting sunlight, sand etc. Therefore this representation of the artist being down to earth through the natural motif highlighting a relatable artist which the public can relate to.

Design/layout

In consideration of the size of the advert itself, the image of the artist is relatively large and takes up a large amount of the area. This allows the audience to focus on the artist’s appearance and style, giving them something to take/maintain an interest in. For example, what clothes he is wearing in order for them to purchase/adopt a similar style so that they feel similar to the artist. This will help to evoke dyers theory showing the artist as a star as the target audience will copy his style sense and look up to the artist. Similarly, the artist's name is also very large in a contrasting colour and font in the advert, emphasising to the audience the artist’s name. Through the use of the contrasting font and colour allows the advert to be eye catching so the audience, as the large name will create awareness as it is easily visible. With both aspects of the poster being large, this makes the aim of the advert very clear to the audience as they quickly become aware of whom the advert is about (David Guetta). The large proportions of each aspect are engaging also as they are attention grabbing whereas small proportionate aspects become hard to see and therefore unrecognisable to a potential target audience. Furthermore, contrasting to normal conventions of the deep house/ dance genre Guetta subverts by having additional and unnecessary information on the advert. This will engage the audience telling them both facts which are vital and persuading them on the artist. This will increase the artists fan base, popularity and success. Name, what the artist looks like, their tour dates would be examples of facts and “Nobody does it like Guetta”, would be examples of persuasive information. This will intern persuade and inform the artist boosting their success and increasing their audience.

Choice of images

there are two main images in the advert; the artist (David Guetta) and the background, creating a very simplistic advert as a whole. The lack of visual variation limit a possible over-crowding effect, which may appeal to the target audience of a pop artist, however less likely in term of an Deep house/ Dance artist, as they appear simple and focused on their music rather than their image; Seen from the simplistic clothing. The background sunny location seen through the deck chairs and palm trees, again simple as the target audience relate this will fun and dancing which the artist implies through his music.

Typography

The font used to write the artist's name, is always used on any product in which the artist's name features in i.e. adverts, album covers, artist website. Therefore, this begins to build an image of the artist as the consistency of this particular font allows the audience to associate such font with the artist, therefore creating increased awareness of her. Also, the artists name is very large in size, letting the audience know straight away that the advert is about them. In addition the name is in a contrasting colour also highlighting the artist; this is engaging regardless if the audience has heard of her or not as they are immediately drawn to her name as a result of the size of the font and colour. Furthermore, the tour dates are all in capital letters to emphasise to the audience that he is on tour and when she is performing. It encourages the target audience to purchase tickets. In addition to this it highlights the artist’s success increasing his image as a star.

The magazine advert shown above by avicii, includes vital information that is required in order for the advert to be successful including tour dates and album releases. “3 June Dublin o2”. This will inform the target audience when the artist is playing and to pre book tickets for this date. This will promote the artist and present their image to the audience, creating awareness and increasing sales. It is crucial for the advert to give the right impression to its audience and present the correct artist image in order to attract the correct target market. Conventions of the dance genre are seen in the. Avicii's magazine advert. This is illustrated through the use of hiding his identity. This is achieved by his back facing the camera in the main image. This will create a mystery identity to his target audience. This follows the conventions of the genre as deep house/ dance genre as they focus on their music rather than the image created of themselves. By hiding the artist identity it allows him to portray the feeling on the audience, therefore increasing the artist success. Although the artist identity is hidden it allows the audience to focus on the crowd behind him. Which gives the impression that he has a large fan base as there is a vast amount of people in the image enjoying his music? This will therefore boost the artist success as the audience will see the artist success and the people enjoying the music, the audience will also want to have this feeling by joining the artist fan base, boosting his success. The feeling of enjoyment is also highlighted through the artist’s body language. This is seen in the image as the artist holds he hand in the air which suggests that he is enjoying what he is doing and continues the impression that everyone is having a good time, which will be passed on to the target audience promoting the artists success. In addition to portraying a fun environment the artist also highlights he is star and a success. This is seen through his popularity and through is large fan base seen in the background of the image. This will evoke the feeling that the artist creates good music as he hides his identity and has a large fan base, which will further entice potential customers to buy his album. This supports Dyers theory as he believes that the star must be simultaneously present and absent for the consumer. Avicii in this advert is absent through his masked identity but present through his large following and body language. This will therefore increase the artist success as it will persuade to follow the artist and buy albums.

Avicii is also in casual clothing, making his audience able to relate to him more easily as he is wearing normal clothes, which is commonly worn by his fan base. This supports Dyers theory that artists must be simultaneously ordinary and extraordinary for the consumer. The checked jumper that Avicii is wearing would be considered as being ordinary as it is clothing that his target audience are familiar with and would perhaps wear themselves. This will enable Avicii to build a relationship with his audience and therefore lead to creating loyal customers. On the other hand the artists are seen as extraordinary through the huge crowd that has gathered to hear his music. The image as a whole presents Avicii as being fun and carefree which are often traits found in artists belonging to the dance genre and therefore appeal to the specific audience of dance music. This will therefore achieve the main purpose of the magazine advert which is to sell tour tickets and increase the awareness of Avicii as an artist as these aspects would all persuade the intended target market to purchase Avicii's products etc. that are being promoted by the advert.

Colour connotation in the magazine also helps to boast the artist’s success. Through the use of sutel blue tones are used throughout the advert in the form of the banners held by onlookers, the checked shirt that Avicii is wearing, fading into the colour of the sky. This allows the main headline of 'Avicii - Part of the At Night Family' to stand out in a bright white colour - grabbing the attention of anyone who comes across it. The bold font and white glowed colouring helps to attract the audience. This highlights the artist trying to increase his fan base as he aims to gain more followers.

The dark colours used for the DJ decks at the bottom of the advert allow the dates and venues along with other important information to be more visible for onlookers. This is through the use of white writing which stands out more on the black background. There is little information present on the advert which allows it to remain uncomplicated and easier to read, meaning that readers are not overwhelmed by useless information.

it is clear from the two adverts what is needed to create a successful deep house advert. the secondary reseach will help myself and my group 0.
