We chose to use pie charts and bar charts to present
the information that we collected from our questionnaires. This was in order to
make the feedback easier to interpret as we felt that visual aids
will be more engaging. Consequently this will help my group analysis information
easier to truly understand our target audience and what they enjoy seeing in a
deep house music video.
My group decided that splitting the
target audience in to groups the best way to start this was through gender. My
group sampled twenty males and twenty females in order to gather fair results
and not to be biased to our target audience. This gave us an insight into which different
aspects each gender would like to see in a deep house music video, as well
as highlighting correlation which a certain gender would like to see in a music
video. This would result in my groups music video becoming pleasing for both
males and females. The genre is a very accessible for both males and
females and as a result we wanted our research to reflect this, and in
turn our music video.
After gathering the
two groups of gender my group decided to split the age range of all who took
the questionnaire. This was to identify our target audience and determined the
age of the participants that we were using within our questionnaire. My groups
aim was to gather all different age ranges to give a range of valid
information. This is seen through the age range starting at 15 and
finishing at 60. This would ensure that we were collecting the opinions of a
range of different age groups as well as a greater number of participants
belonging to our target audience age group. This would make sure that
we had collected enough information in order to be useful within
our research and that we could broaden and include as wide target audience
as possible. As well as this it allows us to specify the people we are
targeting in more depth and therefore more accurately to increase the appeal of
the video.
Once we had grouped the basic information of the participants who took
the questionnaire. My group wanted to
ask questions which directly related to the music genre. This would directly
help my group find what the target audience demand from our chosen genre. More
specifically their favourite music genres. Our feedback further
cemented the opinion that we had chosen the right genre of music for our
specified target audience due to the majority of participants favouring
the dance genre (35%) over a few selected others. My group felt that
the increase in deep house music has lead to an increase in popularity of the
genre. The increase in popularity could also be due to genre becoming very
mainstream and is more aware now to consumers, causing an increase in
popularity. The genre is also one that is enjoyed by each member of our group
and we therefore felt that we had a better understanding of the genre, which
would allowed us to become more creative when creating the music video. This
will hopefully lead to our music video of having a higher chance of success.
My group wanted know if the participates was aware of our artist, this
would confirm that we had chosen the right song and artist. This would allow us
to see that the artist that we had chosen was popular within the public and
more importantly our chosen target audience. This statistics of a majority of
77% of participants that answered our questionnaires had heard of the artist
and gave us more hope in that we had chosen a popular artist which has popular
songs.
